Valentine's Day in Ecuador

  • Food
The Valentine's dinner is based on visiting luxury restaurants, so couples can enjoy this special day. Usually, fast food places are preferred or Mexican food restaurants. The Paseo por la Ronda provides several spaces to meet and sit down to eat. In addition, the shopping centers hold events with the participation of visitors giving away balloons, stuffed animals, chocolates or dinners in important restaurants in the city.

  • Music
On Valentine's Day concerts and musical events are held in shopping centers, squares, parks, etc. Romantic music predominates because of the celebration. However, there are also groups of urban music, folklore and national music. Serenades are heard in all corners of the city and the clubs are very popular.

  • Special Curiosities
On this day couples get married; this year around 500 couples got married. Couples exchange gifts like stuffed animals, chocolates, flowers, cosmetics, lingerie, balloons, etc. They visit special places such as the cinema, the squares, museums, theaters or they go on trips to enjoy in recognized tourist places.


Valentine's Day in South Korea
  • Food
Valentine's Day in South Korea is held three days a year, so restaurants are constantly visited at these celebrations, especially on Black Day which many people gather to celebrate eating noodles with beans and black sauce. Romantic dinners and evenings increase the sale of food.

  • Traditional Costumes
People usually visit places where Valentine's Day is being celebrated, where dances or events are presented in which they demonstrate the typical costumes of Korean culture to national and international tourists.

  • Special Curiosities
Valentine's Day in South Korea is celebrated three days:
On February 14, women declare their love to the men they want; giving away chocolates, sweets or marshmallows.
On March 14, those men who received a gift or some candy must compensate the girl who gave them to them. It is called the White Day.
April 14 is the day of singleness, in which those who did not get a couple the previous days meet and celebrate. It is called the Black Day.


Valentine's Day in Wales
  • Food
Valentine's Day presents different spaces for couples to come together to eat. People in Wales usually eat fish, seafood, meat, cockles (algae), soups, meatballs, etc.


  • Special Curiosities
People in Wales do not celebrate Valentine's Day on February 14, but they do it on January 25 on "Saint Dwynwen's Day", the nation's patron. It is celebrated in honor of Dwynwen, the Welsh Saint of love so that date is the day of the San Dwynwen festival. The traditional gift of Valentine's Day in Wales is a spoon of love that, according to the design, can mean several things, like good luck, support, or the keys to the heart of a man.
Throughout Wales, children and adults write their letters to each other in a celebration of their love, or sometimes without a name in order to attract the other person in love.

CARNIVAL PARTIES IN ECUADOR
  1. Carnival in Ambato
  • Food
The city has a varied cuisine that is sold in markets, squares and restaurants. The food is prepared in wood ovens in 18 restaurants and bakeries distributed in the parish. The dishes preferred by diners are potatoes with a rabbit or rabbit recipe, accompanied with salad. The Andean dishes are sold in three stores in the Ficoa neighborhood and five in the Atahualpa parish. Another of the spaces that offer to visit the restaurants are the traditional purple drinks accompanied with empanadas, in the Central park in Atocha.
  • Traditional Costumes
The tradicional costumes will be part of the parade of the Feast of Flowers and Fruits, accompanying allegorical cars. These costumes represent the most emblematic ethnic groups and cultures of Ecuador. The dress used by the candidates for Reina, have bright colors to highlight the context of the celebration.
  • Dance
In the Parade of the Confraternidad several cultural numbers are realized, where the dance is the main element more used. The dances represent the ethnic groups and cultures of Ecuador, in their majority. These acts provide interest to tourists and increase Ecuadorian recognition worldwide. Floral exhibitions and religious rituals usually include typical dances from the region.
  • Music
Annually, a National Music Festival is held to promote Ecuadorian culture. In addition, the International Folklore Festival that holds the history of Latin American music is celebrated. It provides great attraction to tourists and Ecuadorians. The Parade is full of bright colors and music, which can not be missed in the Feast of Flowers and Fruits.
  • Special Curiosities 
The celebration of the Carnival of Ambato is different and special because the celebration is combined with the Feast of Flowers and Fruits, in the province of Tungurahua. This celebration is traditionally caused by the impact that the inhabitants had in the earthquake of August 5, 1949. The denomination of flowers and fruits is given by the production of food and plants that corresponds to the beginning of each year.

     2. Carnival in Guaranda
  • Food
The fritada in carnival is more fragrant and its pieces placate the cold of the afternoon satiating the hunger of those who accompany the snack with empanadas, mote and toasted. The capers pickled in a jar are mixed with onions, chochos, peas and peppers. Carrots cut into slices, combine with the sour, caused by the chicha rushing.
The chigüil is the inseparable companion of aromatic and hot coffee that perfumes the whole house with its smell.
Without dessert the food is incomplete. Guaranda prepares in pailas with panela, delicacies that are distributed in trays, in a parade of colors and flavors. The sweets of: quince, fig, chamburo, sambo, naranjilla and guineo. There are drinks of a thousand colors, fig leaf, capulí, peach, mint and coffee. Do not miss the fact of silk or the tangerine drink.
  • Traditional Costumes
The traditional costumes of the Carnival celebrations in Guaranda are presented in the Parade of Joy and Confraternity. Their bright colors and choreographies interpreted by different national and international dance groups, entertain tourists and native Ecuadorians. The province of Bolívar is one of the most visited during this time of celebration, due to its typical costumes.
  • Dance
This celebration gathers comparsas, outdoor activities, parades, festivals of songs, popular dances and people play with water, flour, foam and food. Without a doubt, the dance is very popular in every corner of Guaranda, where people gather and celebrate Carnival.
  • Music
The Carnival in Ecuador is celebrated in several cities of the country, but without a doubt the Carnival of Guaranda is the best known for its customs and traditions.
Carnival is synonymous with dancing, joy, comparsas, parties where you can not miss the famous song "Carnaval de Guaranda" that is sung by thousands of Guarandeños. This popular musical theme, very much listened to in carnival time, invites us to live these traditional festivities with great joy.
  • Special Curiosities
Every year the carnival taita is proclaimed, who wears a red poncho, hat, scarf and boots. He usually directs the party while he tastes the traditional bluebird liquor and is accompanied by friends and family. This manifestation of the locality brings its inhabitants closer and it is an opportunity to show part of the culture.

CARNIVAL PARTIES IN BRAZIL
  • Food
Brazilian food is important in these celebrations and the feijoada is made from black beans and lots of pork, accompanied by citrus fruits that allow better digestion. The Brazilian fricassee consists of a stew where the food is fried with beaten eggs, and also seasoned with lemon and parsley.
In addition, there are stalls selling different types of meat and sausages in the form of skewers. The cakes and bowls (cakes) are also very common. These have a variety of different shapes and fillings (salty or sweet and can range from fruits to fish, meat, or even extra spicy fillings.
As for the drinks, the caipirinha is inevitable. This typical Brazilian cocktail is made with sugar cane, lemon, crushed and sugar.

There is no doubt that the most important of this carnival are the costumes that can be seen in it. Although it is true that total nudity is not allowed, no matter how many clothes you wear, it is common to see dancers and dancers with very few clothes or even half-naked. What is never missing in his attire are the lights, the bright colors, the brightness, the hand embroidery and a very elaborate makeup. In short, most of these suits are handmade and can take up to a year or even more to make.

During Carnival there is also no lack of samba shows, the national dance of Brazil. The most important shows of this dance take place in the Marquês de Sapucaí Sambadrome in Rio de Janeiro, where up to 70,000 people congregate each year.
In addition to the samba, in the Carnival of Brazil other groups of dancers gather to represent other characteristic dances and dances. It is an Afro-Brazilian-inspired performance that has two subtypes. It depicts pre-colonial African traditions. In Carnival, about 20 groups of nations parade in Recife and Olinda.

The music of the natives was very simple and elementary and does not represent a significant contribution in the formation of the Brazilian musical language. Blacks of African origin arrived in Brazil in 1538, and possessed a cultural level superior to that of the aborigines. The innate musicality of the Negro and his extraordinary sense of rhythm and improvisation give the music of this country an authentically regional character and flavor.
Of European music, the main contribution comes from Portugal. The culture and folklore of the Lusitanian country will be of vital importance in the constitution of Brazilian music.

The Brazilian Carnival is a macro-event that takes place in the forty days before Easter and marks the beginning of Lent. The most important carnivals in Brazil are those of Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Salvador de Bahía, Recife and the municipality of Olinda. It is the best celebration of Carnival in the world, since it covers many cities and thousands of tourists attend the parades, concerts and events that take place throughout the country.

CARNIVAL PARTIES IN SPAIN
  • Food
In Galicia and Asturias are typical carnival ears (sweets made from flour, egg, butter and sugar) or stews such as entroido stew, made with chickpeas, potatoes, cabbages, cabbage, chicken, pork, tail, bacon and sausage. In Catalonia you can enjoy a sausage made of pork stomach stuffed with minced meat, eggs, bread and raisins, cocas covered with pork and sugar chicharrón or egg sausages. In the Canary Islands of honey soups, made with bread, cane honey, cinnamon, matalahúva and lemon rind; and in Andalusia you can taste sweets like the carnival cakes or the curd of Carnival.

  • Traditional Costumes
Spaniards wear costumes according to their resources or their imagination and go out to the streets to celebrate during the day and night of Carnival. There is a wide variety of typical dances that are presented with different costumes that characterize them. In addition, they represent traditions and customs of Spain such as La 'Mascarávila', which is a masquerade where traditional carnival characters from different towns meet.

  • Dance
The Carnival of Spain offers programs and events recognized worldwide throughout the country. The parades are the ones that receive more people, due to the traditional and foreign dances that can be witnessed. The Carnival Queens also perform at these events performing theatrical numbers and other scenic arts to attract tourists.

  • Music
In the Carnival of Cádiz, visitors are entertained with the famous "chirigotas". They are groups that sing satirical and humorous songs about the themes of society on the streets.
The comparsas are usually a more demanding poetic critic with a less humorous and satirical tone than the chirigota. The comparsas in the Carnival of Tenerife are very different. There it is a real show with a parade that brings together both dance, music and costumes.
In addition, Cádiz organizes the Official Contest of Carnival Groups to give different prizes to the best chirigotas, comparsas, choirs and carnival quartets.
  • Special Curiosities
Carnivals prelude Lent. But before moving on to those weeks of deprivation, society joins in days of celebration in which gastronomy is anything but scarce. They go back centuries. It is a celebration of Christian origin that is celebrated before the beginning of Lent. The forty days before Easter, Christians had to prepare their body and mind to receive Christ on the basis of abstinence in their daily work and, of course, in gastronomy. This time of deprivation also included a ban on eating meat on Fridays.
